Shelley Ann McCarthy Buckingham

International Women's Day 2020: Shelley Ann McCarthy Buckingham is a post graduate research student at LIT

Shelly-Ann's published paper for her 4th year thesis was presented during the Dublin leg of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention, and won the award for Best Technical Paper (http://www.aes.org/events/146/presenters/?ID=7971). The paper was on the Factors Contributing to Gender Imbalance in the Audio Industry - where findings showed a difference in the willingness to help upcoming individuals in audio, depending on gender (https://secure.aes.org/forum/pubs/conventions/?elib=20292).  She is also involved in the music industry, with music labels, festivals and artists - alongside her experience in education. All avenues are important to show women that they are capable of whatever they put their minds to.
