The Organisation
South East Technological University (SETU) was established in May 2022, enabled by new legislation and the merger of two former Institutes of Technology that had been central to economic, social and cultural life in the south east for fi fty years. As a multi-campus technological university, SETU serves its 18,000+ learners across campuses in Waterford, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow and Kilkenny and employs almost 2,000 staff. The University is redefi ning the educational and economic landscape of the south east, offering student-centred education and committing to innovation and impact, delivering world-class research and elevating the south east as a hub of excellence.
The Roles
SETU is currently recruiting for three key leadership roles within the University. These roles will report to the President.
Senior Vice-President, Academic
The Senior Vice-President, Academic will lead the overall strategic academic direction of SETU. They will hold the position of Deputy President and deputise for the President on any university matter. They will ensure that academic activity aligns with the mission, vision and values of the University and they will support the research agenda, playing a key part in accomplishing SETU’s academic goals as set out in the University’s strategic plan. The Senior Vice-President, Academic will have responsibility for academic resourcing and academic planning and they will guide the relevant Vice-Presidents in support and development of the academic experience of students and the research profi le of SETU.
Senior Vice-President, Operations
The Senior Vice-President, Operations will lead the strategy, management and planning of the operational units of SETU, while being a key strategic adviser to the President. Serving as a pivotal member of SETU’s Executive Management Team, the Senior Vice-President, Operations will exemplify a professional and approachable demeanour, fostering productive relationships with colleagues across both operational and academic functions. They will play a key role in aligning the operational activities of the University underpinning the strategic plan and developing a culture of collegiality and shared excellence.
Senior Vice-President, Finance
The Senior Vice-President, Finance will lead the strategic fi nance and resourcing approaches for SETU. As a key member of SETU’s Executive Management Team, they will demonstrate a professional demeanour which is conducive to fostering productive relationships and communications regarding fi nances, fi nancial planning, budgetary control and procurement across the University. Reporting directly to the President, the Senior Vice-President, Finance will be instrumental in aligning the fi nancial functions of the University to support the strategic plan as well as ensuring excellent fi nancial governance and compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance.
