July Stimulus package announced

The Technological Higher Education Association (THEA) welcomes the announcements today in the July Stimulus package that facilitate Further and Higher Education to support employment in upskilling and reskilling through a range of offerings that are informed by the identified skills needs of the country.  Through this mechanism, our Institutes of Technology right around the country will make available a diverse range of relevant programmes that will contribute to the rebooting of our economy.  These focused programmes are fashioned to advance our human capital and support the labour force in a way that is flexible and pertinent to the needs of the regional economy.

Following from yesterday’s Government announcement around the Covid Response, this marks a significant boost for learners and for our education and training system.

The CEO of THEA, Dr Joseph Ryan stated, “we have had a number of meetings with Minister Simon Harris and his team in the new Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, & Science.  We welcome the pragmatic and inclusive approach that is being taken to ensuring that access to education and training opportunity is being offered across the National Framework of Qualifications so that the talents and ambitions of all can be harnessed and honed in this shared drive toward national recovery.”
