Dr Patrick Murray, Head of Research and Technology Transfer, Technological University of the Shannon (TUS).

Dr Patrick Murray is the Head of Research and Technology Transfer at Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). Dr Murray is co-PI of LIFE Health and Life Sciences Research Institute at TUS and Principal Investigator of Shannon Applied Biotechnology Research Centre, a research Technology Gateway that has a strong track record of collaboration with industry specifically in identification of innovative ingredients and biological products from natural resources. Dr Murray leads the scientific coordination of multi-partner EU research and innovation projects including the Horizon 2020 Regional University Network European University PLUS project and has supervised research students at MSc and PhD level. He is the author of many peer reviewed scientific articles, book chapters and patents. He has previously worked at the University of Galway and also as a visiting researcher in Sweden, Finland and Portugal.

Strengthening strategic partnerships across the EU between higher education institutions and encouraging the emergence of 'European Universities' is one of the flagship initiatives of the EU’s ambitions to build a European Education Area. The Regional University Network-European University (RUN-EU) consists of a bottom-up network of like-minded regional universities from across Europe which will enable our students to obtain a degree by combining studies in our campuses spread across our consortium and contribute to the international competitiveness of our RUN-EU European University.
