The School of Engineering in TU Dublin and its volunteering group, 3DAssist, have been working with community groups over the last 8 years in areas such as 3D printed prosthetics, braille-based devices and, more recently, wheelchair costume design.

Over the last two years we have collaborated with students and staff from Marketing and Media Production and Digital Arts in designing and manufacturing wheelchair costumes for children using the services of LauraLynn, Ireland Children’s Hospice.

This project’s aim is to run this initiative in the form of a Makeathon with a focus on involving more students and staff.
