The project will begin with students from the BA in Early Childhood Education and Care programme learning about the Ocean Literacy Framework.

Using an inquiry-based learning approach, students will share and apply their newfound knowledge in practice by working with an Early Learning and Care setting in the local community. Students will learn to scaffold interactive learning experiences for preschool children, providing opportunities for the children to explore and investigate their wonderings and inquiries about the ocean and sea life on the shore.

This project will be carried out in collaboration with Geraldine Doran; Galway Childcare Committee, Dr Noírín Burke (Head of Education at Galway Atlantaquaria) and Dr Róisín Nash (Lecturer and Researcher at Marine and Freshwater Research Centre, ATU, Galway).
