Employees of the Technological Sector Institutions who are in pensionable posts are members of one of two main superannuation schemes – The Single Public Service Pension Scheme or the Education Sector Superannuation Scheme.
The Single Public Service Scheme applies to all new entrants to the public service with effect from 1 January 2013. This scheme is a Career-Averaged Defined Benefit Scheme. Full details of the scheme are available from the website: https://singlepensionscheme.gov.ie/
The Education Sector Superannuation Scheme 2015 applies to most other employees in pensionable posts. Details of the membership criteria are set out in the Explanatory Booklet. This is a Final Salary Defined Benefit Scheme. A copy of the Explanatory Booklet can be downloaded here.
It is hoped that employees will find the information contained here helpful in considering their individual situations. However, if an individual employee requires further details as to their individual pension entitlements, they should contact the Pension Section of their relevant organisation.
