President of Institute of Technology Tralee, Dr Oliver Murphy, completes his term as Chairperson of the Board of the Technological Higher Education Association (THEA) on 31 December 2018.
Outgoing chair of THEA and President of IT Tralee Oliver Murphy said "I have been proud to serve as Chair of the Technological and Higher Education Association over the past twelve months. We have seen momentous change in the Higher Education Sector during 2018. The President of Ireland signed the Technological Universities Act 2018 into law on 19th March 2018 and this will herald a new and exciting era for the Higher Education Sector in Ireland. I wish my successor Dr. Annie Doona, President of Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dun Laoghaire all the best during her tenure of office during 2019".
Thanking Dr Murphy for his term of office, Dr Joseph Ryan, CEO of THEA said: “We are grateful to Dr Murphy for the time that he has spent with us as Chairperson of the Board of THEA in 2019. Dr Murphy has brought a unique perspective to the association. We look forward to an exciting year ahead as we welcome TU Dublin into our membership in January and look forward to the prospect of including Technological University South East, Connacht/Ulster Alliance and Munster Technological University in the future.
