Minister Harris launches over 14,000 free or subsidised higher education places to help people get back to work and upskill workers

Posted on: 27 Oct 2020

Higher Education is a key agent in recovery and the announcement today by Minister Simon Harris TD of some €30 million of free and subsidised higher education places under the Jobs Stimulus package to help get people back to work, upskill workers, and build economic confidence is warmly welcomed by the Technological Higher Education Association (THEA) on behalf of our Institutes of Technology.  Dr Joseph Ryan, the CEO of THEA, stated “Especially welcome in this initiative is the fact that the offerings can meet the needs of so many who wish to reskill, upskill, or reposition careers that have been impacted by Covid-19.  Our Institutes of Technology have a range of offerings across all Levels of the National Framework, featuring a wide range of disciplines and in both smaller and longer learning packages that can suit all needs.  We invite those interested to visit the HEA website or that of their local Institute of Technology to explore the range of possibility that this initiative has afforded.”
